Is this your first time mixing? Tips and Tricks

Ratings influence how often you will hear tracks and artists on your player. Our radio curators have programmed more than 30 genres for you to mix, and each track in all of our genres will have an ?implicit? rating displayed (in yellow) when it plays. That's to give you an idea of how often our curators think each track should play that week (so these can change weekly). Think of it as a baseline. Your own rating will either increase or decrease that track?s rotation accordingly by adding it to your mix/station.
In addition to track ratings, Artist Ratings are a shortcut way to rate an artist?s hit songs with just one click. To see this up-close, visit an artist's page by either clicking on the artist name of the currently playing track, or via Request. On the left side is a listing of all the hits our curators have chosen for that artist. So, for example, U2's page lists 60+ hits on the left, plus their complete discography on the right. Rating U2 a 4 ("play often") will instantly rate all their hits listed by our curators a 4, unless you change any of their tracks individually. Track ratings will always trump artist ratings!
Plus, Mad Genius Radio makes it easy to find deep cuts from popular artists and those that are not currently playing across any of our genres. Just enter the artist name in the Request box, and then flip through their discography to rate the tracks you want to hear more of.
One more thing to keep in mind: Mad Genius gives you the choice to exclude your rated music from your player if you want to. If you?re in the mood for classic rock exclusively, and don't want to hear any of your rated music from other genres, simply slide the Include Requests toggle to the off position (the left). The further that slider is pushed to the right, the more of your rated music you?ll hear.
To bring songs by into rotation, find and rate them in the Albums section.
